We continue our study in Philippians today. Paul explains true joy in the Lord while correcting some issues in this church. He’s writing from house arrest in Rome, and he encourages the Philippian church to reduce their stress, beware of false teachers, and enjoy unity in the church.

Instructions for Life

This beautiful epistle, and Paul’s life, give us important instructions for life. Paul says that his entire life is about Jesus Christ. His ministry to the soldiers who guarded him and even Ceasar’s household is an incredible testimony to God’s faithfulness.

Paul discusses belief and suffering. This counterintuitive truth is jolting to us, but we are to understand that God gives us suffering to grow us in His grace.

Imperatives for Life

We wrap up chapter one of this beautiful epistle today. Paul provides imperatives about the way we are to live. Next week, we will see in chapter two that Paul is going to correct disunity, anxiety, and a lack of humility in this first century church.
